Plans to expand London Luton Airport are being delayed.
It will now not be submitting an application to the government in June, asking permission to increase passenger numbers to 32 million a year by 2039 and build a second terminal.
In a statement on its website, London Luton Airport Limited said it would be taking a fresh look at sustainability, after feedback during the public consultation - but also pointed to the effect of the pandemic on the aviation industry, and the need for what it called "prudent investment".
"Our focus during these unprecedented times is firmly on supporting staff and all our partners across London Luton Airport, and preparing for a period of recovery and renewed safe travel," it said.
