  1. Air accident investigators probe fatal crash near Penrith

Air accident investigators are at a small private airfield near Penrith to investigate a light aircraft crash at the weekend in which a pilot died.

Police and fire crews were called to Berrier Airfield, which is also known as Troutbeck after a nearby hamlet, just before 15:00 yesterday.

The pilot, a 44-year-old man from Lancashire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The airfield is the base for a company offering gyrocopter flights across the Lake District, and several private aircraft, and the AAIB says the accident involved a fixed-wing aircraft.
