Princess visits charity's centre in Barrow

The Princess Royal has been visiting the Cafe Neuro support centre run by the Motor Neurone Disease Association in Barrow today.

The Princess Royal's arrival was delayed by fog, but she still spent time visiting staff, volunteers and clients at the St Mary's Living Well centre, which was opened by the Earl of Wessex last year.

A Cumbrian man has been given a prestigious award by the Princess Royal for his work training visually impaired sailors.

Jonny Cormack from Milnthorpe has volunteered with Great Britain's Blind Sailing for 18 years.

He started sailing at the age of two aboard his father's boat and now manages the Windermere Outdoor Adventure Centre.

After hearing he'd received the award, he said he thought: "Wow, that's amazing."
