Citizens' Advice Bureaux staff around Cumbria are preparing for a jump in inquiries from people who've found themselves in debt this Christmas.
The charity's offices in Carlisle and Eden see a 39% increase in the number of people seeking financial help after the festive period.
Darren Shaw, who's a money advice case worker at the charity in Carlisle, says the key message is to get help early.
Some people could do a lot themselves, go on our online site, and use our tools to work out a budget, or look at the benefits they might be entitled to, alternatively it might be accessing us and we can guide them through that process."
