There's been a jump in the number of people seeking advice in North Cumbria because of debt, according to a charity that offers money advice.
There has been a 17% increase in people asking for help from Citizens Advice Carlisle and Eden, and a 40% increase in their clients' total number of individual debts.
Andy Auld from the charity says people have spent more than they could afford over Christmas.
We're noticing more people coming to us with credit and store card debts, and council tax arrears, so they've gone up significantly in the last year, as have personal loan debts as well."
