Two intensive care units at the new Leicester Children's Hospital will be named after former Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha when they open.

The charity behind the appeal to build the new hospital confirmed the tribute to Mr Vichai, who donated £2m to them after the Foxes won the Premier League in 2016.

Mr Vichai died in a helicopter crash at the King Power Stadium last October along with two pilots and two members of his staff.

His son, Apichet Srivaddhanaprabha, said it was a "proud moment" for the family.

"My father always supported Leicester’s communities because he believed in giving back to the people that have given so much to us," he said.

"His donations to Leicester Hospitals were about supporting the future generations of those communities and making sure there would always be help available to families that needed it most."
