Top accolade for Windermere guest house

A guest house in the Lake District has won a top accolade from inspectors.

Cedar Manor, in Windermere, was awarded the AA Gold Award and five stars.

The Gold Award is the AA's ultimate commendation, only awarded to "the very best" properties offering "outstanding" hospitality and service.

Cedar Manor owner Jonathan Kaye said he was "delighted".

Pub group pays £40m for Cotswolds hotel business

Pub group Fuller, Smith & Turner has agreed a £40m deal to buy Cotswold Inns & Hotels.

Fullers said it has taken control of the hotel-focused business which includes seven freehold country inns, eight freehold cottages and two leasehold bars in Birmingham.

Cotswold Inns & Hotels was founded in 1997 by Michael and Pamela Horton.

It posted revenue of £17.5m for the year to September 2018.
