A display of knitted poppies has been unveiled at Durham town hall.
The cascade of flowers was created by the City of Durham Parish Council, local businesses, artists and volunteers to honour Remembrance Sunday.
To make it even more poignant, the large poppies have words printed on them that were taken from letters which soldiers wrote to their loved ones during the War.Copyright: BBC

Newcastle's Remembrance Service has been held today, in an early move brought about by the current lockdown restrictions.Copyright: BBC
It was held at 08:30 at the war memorial at Old Eldon Square and was attended by a very small number of dignitaries.
