Coca-Cola bottler beats sales forecasts

Shares in Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company have jumped to the top of the FTSE 100 after it reported better than expected sales growth in the third quarter.

The bottler said sales grew by 2.6% to €1.87bn (£1.63bn) - marginally ahead of expectations for €1.86bn - because of good performances in markets such as Poland, Russia and Nigeria.

The FTSE 100 is up 0.31% at 7,139.65.

  • Bottling business Coca-Cola HBC sales were flat at €3.2bn for the six months to 29 June. Pre-tax profits rose to €290.1m from €254.2m.
  • Security group G4S has reported a fall in pre-tax profits to £139m from £219m for the six months to 30 June. Revenues fell to £3.6bn from £3.9bn.
  • Russian steel producer Evraz said sales rose by 24.2% to $6.3bn. Pre-tax profits jumped to $1.5bn from $294m.
  • Estate agency and adviser Savills revenue rose 2% to £727.8m for the six months to 30 June. Pre-tax profits fell to £26.7m from 32.4m.
