Airbnb has invested in the Indian hotel reservation firm Oyo.

Oyo operates in India, China, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Indonesia and Malaysia, managing budget hotels and offering logistical services.

"Emerging markets like India and China are some of Airbnb's fastest-growing, with our growth increasingly powered by tourism to and from these markets," said Greg Greeley, president of homes, Airbnb.

Airbnb is preparing for an IPO later this year.

The city of Paris is suing Airbnb for €12.5m (£11m) over 1,000 adverts for what it says are illegal rentals.

Homeowners in the city can rent out their properties for only 120 days per year. They must register themselves as a business and display their registration number on any advertising.

Under French law, companies can be fined up to €12,500 for each advert.

Airbnb said the rules in Paris were "inefficient, disproportionate and in contravention of European rules".

Airbnb denies Israeli reports

Airbnb has denied the reports in the Israeli press.

It says they are "inaccurate".

It has issued a statement: "Airbnb expressed its unequivocal rejection of the BDS movement and communicated its commitment to develop its business in Israel, enabling more tourists from around the world to enjoy the wonders of the country and its people.

"We are here to meet with a variety of stakeholders and as a result of our meetings have an even deeper understanding that this is an incredibly complex and emotional issue.

"Airbnb communicated that we are developing the tools needed to implement our policy and that process includes continuing our dialogue with the Government of Israel and other stakeholders.”
