Man bailed over Grimsby 'stolen motorbike' crash

A man arrested in connection with a crash in which three teenagers were seriously injured has been released on bail.

Scene of crash

An 18-year-old man and two boys, aged 16, and 17, were taken to hospital after the collision in Little Coates Road, Grimsby, at about 01:30 BST on Thursday.

Humberside Police said the three teenagers were riding on a suspected stolen motorbike without helmets when it collided with a red Vauxhall Corsa.

A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of seven offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop, has been released on bail.

The force said all three teenagers remain in hospital and has issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

Councillors say 'I do' to People's Park wedding venue plan

Blushing brides could soon be having a very green wedding in a 19th century Grimsby park, but objectors claim the venue is not fit-for-purpose.

Floral Hall

Health and care service provider Navigo has been given permission to turn the North East Lincolnshire Council-owned Floral Hall and Aviary garden centre in People's Park into an events venue and bridal house, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

A spokesman for Navigo, which helps people from disadvantaged backgrounds get back into work, told planning bosses today: “People’s Park is an important community asset and we want to continue to transform this Grimsby gem into an attractive, accessible community centre by regenerating and refurbishing it.”

Navigo believe the regeneration of the centre would help reduce anti-social behaviour, though objectors were concerned that use of alcohol during events would have the opposite effect.

They said the building is essentially a greenhouse – meaning it will be warm at all times – and questioned how noise can be limited if windows had to be opened to cool guests down.

Humberside Police uploaded the suspect image, of a moustached man wearing a hard hat, to its social media accounts on Tuesday.

It received a raft of responses, with many suggesting it resembled the former professional footballer.

In response, Kamara, who played for a host of clubs, including Swindon, Brentford, Stoke and Leeds, tweeted a photo of himself wearing DIY gear and urged people not to be alarmed.

Amy Gerard: Death in Tenerife 'accidental'

The death of a British woman whose body was found off the coast of Tenerife was likely an accident, a Spanish court said.

Amy Gerard

Amy Gerard, 28, from Cleethorpes, was last seen outside an Irish bar in Puerto de la Cruz early on 30 November.

An update from a court in La Orotava, issued on Wednesday, said blows to her body were compatible with an accidental fall into the sea near rocks.

It said the criminal investigation into her death had been closed.

Officials said the case could be reopened in future if new evidence emerged indicating a cause other than accidental.

Ms Gerard, who studied at the University of Lincoln, had been working at the Spanish island's Loro Parque marine theme park as a killer whale trainer.

She was found in the water by search teams on 4 December.
