Flu jabs 'crucial' to taking pressure off NHS

The former Stockton South MP, Dr Paul Williams, says flu vaccinations should be made a top priority to relieve pressure on the NHS this winter.

Hospitals are likely to face a large backlog due to treatments and referrals that have been delayed by coronavirus.

Dr Williams, who's been working at a clinic in Stockton, says urgent action needs to be taken to prevent a surge in flu cases.

"Flu vaccines are crucial. We must vaccinate everyone over the ago of 50 and it must be free and easily available."

Dr Williams, who represented Labour, lost his seat in December's general election.
