A Surrey police officer is using the fallout from a 30p compensation cheque to raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

PC Paul Church was assaulted on duty five years ago, but was surprised to receive the tiny pay out in March.

When people learned of the sum he received, he said some generously offered to make up the money to him or donate it to a charity of his choosing.

The roads police officer decided "not the let the opportunity go to waste" and set up a JustGiving page to raise £250 for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust.
