Social media companies are to work with the Samaritans to tackle the promotion of self-harm on their sites. The firms agreed to fund the strategy at a summit in London on Monday. Concerns about a shortage of ambulances in Cumbria have been raised in the Commons.
The Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale, Tim Farron, told the health secretary Matt Hancock that there were only half as many ambulances per head of the population in the county, as there were in London.
In rural Cumbria the situation is far worse, so will he agree to our proposal for an additional two ambulances for Westmorland so we can keep our communties safe?"
Mr Hancock said more ambulances were being provided but he was happy to meet the Cumbrian MP to discuss the matter.
