  4. School celebrates virtual reality classroom 'first'

A Teesside school says it has become the first in the country to use a 360 degree virtual reality suite for its lessons.

St Peter’s Catholic College says the new technology – known as the Igloo – offers new ways of teaching and learning.

Pupils do not have to wear headsets - instead they are immersed by moving images on large screens on all sides of the room.

The space allows pupils to experience learning beyond the four walls of the classroom and could be used to offer work experience without youngsters having to leave the school building.

Head teacher Stephanie Garthwaite said: "We're the first school in the country to have an igloo and ultimately our pupils will make more progress.

"They can't remember every single English or maths lesson they've had but they can remember being in the VR suite at St Peter's."
