Two British toddlers have been killed in a car crash in northern Spain, local police have said.
The children, believed to be a two-year-old boy and his one-year-old sister, died near Briviesca, in Burgos province, on Saturday night.
Their mother, who is British, is receiving treatment in hospital.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said of the crash: "We can confirm the death of two British nationals and the hospitalisation of another."
Spanish traffic police said an investigation into the accident on the AP1 motorway was under way.
The family's car, a Renault Espace, reportedly broke through the central reservation and plunged down a grass bank at the side of the road.
The children's father, who is thought to be a French national, and two other children are also believed to have been taken to hospital following the incident.
The Foreign Office said its officials were providing consular assistance to the family.
