British man killed in motorbike accident in Spain

A British man has been killed in a motorcycle accident in Spain, the Foreign Office has said.

Christopher Williams, of Sturminster Newton in Dorset, died when he fell from his Harley-Davidson motorbike and was struck by a passing vehicle.

The incident happened in Ramales de la Victoria, Cantabria, in the north of the country, on Saturday.

The Foreign Office said the family of Mr Williams, 44, had been told and it was providing consular assistance.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We can confirm the death of a British national in Ramales de la Victoria in Cantabria on 7 August."

Spanish police said it appeared Mr Williams was on his own when the accident happened and died immediately.

A spokesman said: "It is not known why the man fell from his bike. The Civil Guard is investigating the incident."
