Charles, the ninth Earl of Spencer, will marry at the family home

Earl Spencer, the brother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, has announced he is engaged to a charity worker.

The earl and Karen Gordon, founder of the Whole Child International charity, will wed at the Spencer family home in Northamptonshire, a spokesman said.

He said the couple would have a "private wedding" attended by family and close friends on 18 June.

It will take place just weeks after his nephew Prince William weds fiancee Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey.

William's wedding will be held on 29 April.

The prince's uncle, who famously delivered an emotional oration at Diana's funeral in 1997 rebuking both Britain's Royal Family and the press, is getting married for the third time.
