Two men charged with the murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence have appeared in the Old Bailey via a videolink for a pre-trial hearing.

Gary Dobson, 36, and David Norris, 35, both of south London, pleaded not guilty in July and appeared via a link to the court from Belmarsh Prison.

The trial is scheduled to start on 14 November.

Mr Lawrence, 18, a black A-level student, was stabbed to death at a bus stop in Eltham, south London, in 1993.

His parents, Doreen and Neville, who are now separated, were at the court for the 90-minute hearing, in which judge Mr Justice Treacy dealt with procedural matters to do with the trial.

Mr Dobson stood trial over the murder following a private prosecution in 1996 and was cleared.

In May, the Court of Appeal overturned the acquittal because it said substantial new evidence had emerged.
