Operation Elveden: Health worker held in payments probe
A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into corrupt payments to police and public officials, Scotland Yard says.
The unnamed healthcare trust worker was arrested at his Merseyside home at 06:00 BST, Metropolitan Police said.
Detectives are questioning the 46-year-old at a Liverpool police station while his property is searched.
He is being held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.
His arrest is the 71st by officers under Operation Elveden, the Metropolitan Police's investigation into alleged payments made to public officials by journalists.
Among those arrested so far are journalists, prison officers, police officers, customs officers and NHS workers.
Two other strands of the investigation are looking into alleged phone hacking and privacy breaches.
