Five arrests after County Durham street attack

Five men have been arrested after a 45-year-old man was attacked in a County Durham street.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in Tees Crescent, Spennymoor, at about 0130 BST on Thursday.

Residents told police they heard shouting and screaming.

The man received serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition. Five men in their 20s, are in police custody.
