Three charged over County Durham street murder

Police have charged three men with murder after a man died following an attack in a County Durham street.

Father-of-two, Barry Aunger, of St Andrews Road, Spennymoor, was found with head injuries in Tees Crescent, early on Thursday.

The 45-year-old was taken to hospital but later died.

Three local men have been charged with his murder and are due to appear at Peterlee Magistrates' court on Saturday.

Two men aged 22 and 28, who were also arrested in connection with his death, have been released on police bail.

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened at about 0130 BST, has been asked to contact Durham Police.
