Ten agency counters for the Halifax bank in Devon and Cornwall are to close, Lloyds Banking Group says.

The counters, due to close within three months are run in other businesses, including accountants and solicitors.

Affected outlets include: Axminster, Ivybridge, Okehampton, Plymstock and Tavistock in Devon; as well as Callington and Saltash in Cornwall.

The group has not confirmed the number of jobs at risk. It said it did not know as staff worked for the agencies.

But it said those facing redundancy would be "fully supported to consider the various job opportunities within the Halifax branch network".

The group added that customers affected by the closures would instead be able to deposit and withdraw cash at Post Office branches.
