Driver dies as car veers off road in West Sussex

A 49-year-old man died at the scene of an accident in West Sussex after his car left the dual carriageway and ended up in a field.

The driver of the Lexus, from Lambeth, south London, had no passengers in the car when the accident happened on the A24 Basing Hill at Ashington.

Both southbound lanes were closed for more than three hours after the accident at 2100 BST on Tuesday.

Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
