Arrest after man struck by lorry in Staffordshire


A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a lorry hit a pedestrian on the A38 in Staffordshire.

Michael Weller, 59, of Gloucester, was struck on a lay-by on the northbound carriageway between Branston and Clay Mills on Tuesday morning.

Mr Weller was pronounced dead at hospital.

A 28-year-old man, from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, was held and released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Weller lived at Oxstalls Way, Longlevens.
