The sentencing of a footballer found guilty last week of a motoring offence has been adjourned.

Norwich City striker Grant Holt denied failing to give the identity of the driver of a car allegedly speeding near Whitchurch, Shropshire, last year.

He will now be sentenced at Oswestry Magistrates' Court on 13 September.

The 29-year-old's lawyer plans to submit "special reasons" on his behalf at that hearing, which could reduce his sentence, the court heard.

The Championship footballer, who was not required to attend Wednesday's hearing, was tried and convicted last week in his absence at Market Drayton Magistrates' Court, a court spokeswoman said.
