Three more men have been arrested after a double shooting in an alleyway in County Durham.

The men, aged 19, 31, and 44, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were shot in Spennymoor on Saturday.

One man, aged 59, is still in hospital, although his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The three men are currently being questioned at different stations in Durham.

The second man to be shot, aged 40, suffered a minor injury and did not require hospital treatment, Durham Police said.

On Saturday police also arrested an 18-year-old man and another aged 32 on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 59-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of attempting to assist an offender. All three have been bailed pending further inquiries.

So far six people have been arrested in connection with the shootings.

Police believe the men were shot at the back of Clyde Terrace in an "altercation" with people they knew.
