Seventh arrest over Spennymoor alley shots

Another arrest has been made by police investigating a double shooting in an alleyway in County Durham.

Two men were shot in Spennymoor on Saturday. One is in hospital, but he was not seriously injured.

Durham Police said a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

It brings the number of arrests in the investigation to seven. Three men arrested on Monday were still in custody, police said.

The men, aged 19, 31, and 44, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

The second man to be shot, aged 40, suffered a minor injury and did not require hospital treatment.

Two men, aged 18 and 32, who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and another man, 59, arrested on suspicion of attempting to assist an offender were bailed pending further inquiries.
