A Surrey motorist has died when his car ploughed into a lorry on a stretch of motorway.

Kent Police said the 44-year-old was killed in the accident on the Maidstone-bound carriageway of the M26 near the junction with the A21.

A force spokeswoman said it appeared the driver lost control of the vehicle and went into the back of the lorry.

She appealed for information on the crash, which happened at 0640 BST on Saturday.
