The M1 in the East Midlands reopens after two crashes

Stretches of the M1 in the East Midlands have reopened after two accidents caused disruption during the morning rush hour.

In Derbyshire, the southbound carriageway was shut between junction 29 at Chesterfield and junction 28 at Alfreton after a three-vehicle crash.

It reopened at about lunchtime after being closed in the early hours.

In Leicestershire, the northbound carriageway has reopened at junction 23A after an accident caused delays.
