Teenager raped as she walked home in Peterlee

A 15-year-old girl was raped in County Durham as she walked home, police said.

The teenager had been at an address in Peterlee and left sometime after 2300 GMT on 12 November.

As she walked across the grassed area in Morton Square she was attacked by a man.

He was in his late teens to early 20s, about 6ft, mixed race, medium build, had a piercing in his nose and was thought to have been carrying a bag.

Detectives have been studying CCTV footage and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the victim or her attacker.
