Colchester Town railway station forced to close

A railway station in Essex has closed and train services on the line between Norwich and London line have been changed after snow fell in the area.

National Express East Anglia (NXEA) said Colchester Town station had been closed.

It said trains on the rest of its network in Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire had also been affected by the bad weather.

Passengers should allow extra time to make their journeys, it said.

Trains between Norwich and London are running hourly instead of half-hourly.

Services between Lowestoft, Peterborough and London Liverpool Street are terminating at Ipswich.

Buses are replacing trains between Braintree and Witham, the company said.
