Telford family attend funeral of explosives expert

The funeral of a 34-year-old explosives expert who died in Afghanistan has taken place.

Mark Fitzpatrick, who was conducting ammunition disposal and demolition operations in Parwan province, was remembered in Bishop's Wood, Staffordshire.

Mr Fitzpatrick was in DynCorp International's weapons removal and abatement team and died on 20 November.

His funeral took place at St John's the Evangelist Church at midday.

Mr Fitzpatrick grew up in the area and his family, who now live in Telford, said any donations would be divided between Help for Heroes and a charity for wounded explosives-disposal technicians.
