Driver airlifted after hitting tree in Solihull Road

A man was critically injured when his car crashed into a tree.

He crashed at about 1530 GMT on Monday in Solihull Road, between Hampton-in-Arden in Warwickshire, and Catherine-de-Barnes in Solihull, West Midlands.

Emergency crews found the car on its roof and the driver, in his 50s, with serious head and chest injuries, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

The man was resuscitated and anaesthetised at the scene then airlifted to hospital.
