Snow and ice problems on roads in north-east England

Northumberland has been worst hit by the snow
Wintry weather has been causing difficulties on roads in the north east of England.
Although the area had escaped the heavy snowfalls on Saturday which hit other parts of the UK, overnight snow fell on ice, leading to problems for drivers.
Roads in Northumberland and the A19 on Teesside have been particularly badly affected.
More snow has been forecast for the area and police are urging people only to make journeys if they are necessary.
Newcastle Airport remains open but passengers face delays and disruption and all British Airways flights to and from it have been cancelled.
People due to fly from Durham Tees Valley have also been advised to check with their airlines or tour operators.
