A man jailed for his part in stabbing a student to death has absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire.

Ashley Carlton James, 26, who was jailed for 10 years for manslaughter in July 2008, left HMP Sudbury on Monday.

He is described as white, 6ft 1in tall, slim, with cropped black hair and brown eyes. His last known addresses are in Blackpool and Wolverhampton.

Anyone with information about where he is now is asked not to approach him, but to contact police or Crimestoppers.

James was jailed at Wolverhampton Crown Court alongside his cousin Errol Price, 25, of All Saints Road, Wolverhampton.

Price is serving a minimum sentence of 15 years for murdering Uriel Johnson in Bilston, West Midlands, in July 2007.

Mr Johnson, who had been due to start a college construction course, died in hospital.
