Freezing weather sparks Darlington electricity cut

Electricity supplies to hundreds of homes in Darlington had to be cut for emergency repairs to a damaged cable.
CE Electric UK said it had to interrupt supplies to 288 homes for an hour on Wednesday to repair an ongoing problem caused by wintry weather.
A spokesman for the firm said customers had been experiencing temporary cuts for the last three days.
He said the fault has now been repaired although the situation will be monitored.
The spokesman said: "The CE Electric UK customer service van was on site to provide advice and distribute hot drinks and snacks to the local residents affected.
"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to customers and have carried out the work as quickly as possible to minimise further disruption.
"We continue to keep a close eye on the local electricity supply to ensure the repairs have been fully effective and supplies are permanently restored."
