Five arrests in drugs crackdown in Essex town

Three teenagers, a 20-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences in Essex.

An address in Swanstead, Pitsea, was raided by police who believed illegal activity was taking place, a force spokesman said.

"A small quantity of crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis were recovered, as well as a knife," he said.

Pc Adam Blackwell said the raid was part of a continued crack-down on crime in the town.

"We will not tolerate drugs use or supply in Pitsea and if we suspect people are doing such acts, we will obtain a warrant and take a robust stance," he said.

Those arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug with intent to supply were a 16-year-old boy from East London, a 16-year-old boy from Dagenham, a 30-year-old woman from Basildon.

A 16-year-old boy from Northampton was arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug.

A 20-year-old man, also from Northampton, was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A and B drugs with intent to supply.
