Stroud College caretaker possessed indecent images

A caretaker at a Gloucestershire college has been convicted of printing out indecent images of children in the institution's library.

Ian Ponting, 45, of Crescent Road, Stonehouse, was caught after he left two pictures on a printer at Stroud College. They were found by a student.

A jury at Gloucester Crown Court found him guilty of 21 charges of possessing and making indecent images of children.

The offences took place between April 2009 and April 2010.

Ponting had admitted possession of all the 21 images but denied they showed children.

But the jury found that all the images were of boys and girls aged under 18.

Recorder David Lane QC told Ponting that he was looking at an immediate custodial sentence.

He was ordered to sign the sex offenders register immediately. He will be sentenced on 4 February.
