Arrests in County Durham insurance fraud inquiry

Four men have been arrested in County Durham by police investigating suspected car insurance fraud.

Durham Police said the arrests were the latest in a 12-month investigation and brought the total number of arrests to 25.

They said its investigation involved looking at more than 300 accidents with claims averaging about £14,000.

Durham Police has been working with the Insurance Fraud Bureau.

The four men, from Derwentside and Darlington, are being questioned at police stations in the county.
