Motorcyclist dies after collision with car in Cumbria

A motorcyclist has died in a collision with a car in a Cumbrian village.

The 44-year-old man, from the Blackpool area, died at the scene on the A684 at Garsdale, near Sedbergh, on Saturday afternoon.

The female driver of the car and her male passenger, both 72 and from Lincolnshire, were not hurt.

The car driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care and attention and was later released on bail.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by air ambulance crew, paramedics and a doctor.

The A684 was closed until 2000 BST while the accident was investigated.
