A motorcyclist who died near to a police speed camera on a Dorset road has been named by police.

Timothy James Rowsell, 64, from Burley, Hampshire, died on the northbound A338 Bournemouth spur road on Saturday.

The accident was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission because of the proximity to a stationary police speed camera van.

But the police watchdog has said it will not be investigating as there was no need for a "formal referral".

Mr Rowsell died from multiple injuries due to blunt trauma, police said.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned at Bournemouth, Poole and East Dorset Coroner's Court.
