A third person has been arrested by police investigating the murder of missing Sussex man Gary Hampson.

A 66-year-old woman from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a search and forensic examination of her home is being carried out.

Mr Hampson, 42, from Portslade, was last seen dropping his daughter off at her mother's house on 6 January.

Detectives began a murder investigation after Mr Hampson's blood was discovered at the Brighton garage where he worked.

The search for Mr Hampson's body is concentrated along the A281 corridor to the Sussex/Surrey border and has been extended into the area north of Cowfold.

Specialist search officers will continue to work in the area into next week.

An underwater search has also taken place.

Daniel Alexander, 61, of no fixed address, has been remanded in custody charged with Mr Hampson's murder.

A second man, Roy Bartup, 57, of Natal Road, Brighton, has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
