A man has appeared before magistrates in Newcastle accused of kidnap and indecent assault offences dating back to the 1980s and 90s.
David Bryant, from the Baycliffe area of Ulverston in Cumbria, was arrested following an investigation by the Northumbria and Hampshire forces.
He is charged with four counts of kidnapping and four counts of indecent assault, all involving young girls.
The 64-year-old will appear before Newcastle Crown Court on 9 June.
No plea was entered, and he was remanded in custody.
Two of the kidnap and sex assault cases he is accused of are alleged to have happened in the Newcastle area in 1995 and involved girls aged four and five.
The other two cases were alleged to have happened in Hampshire in 1982 and 1983, and involved a three-year-old and another girl aged five.
