Devon and Cornwall distraction burglaries investigated

Distraction burglaries in Cornwall and Devon are being investigated after men entered homes of women in their 90s.

The first occurred in Kings Tamerton Road, Plymouth, on Thursday morning.

The householder found jewellery and cash worth more than £2,000 was stolen after two men claiming to be from the water board were let in, police said.

The second was in Liskeard between 14:00 BST and 15:00 on Thursday. A man claiming to be from the water board damaged a wardrobe, but took nothing.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the incidents were similar, describing the theft at about 09:30 on Thursday as a "cowardly and callous act".
