A man and woman have been rescued after climbing 50ft (15m) up a cliff, after they were cut off by the tide in south east Cornwall.

The Latvian couple had been on the beach at Tregantle, in Whitsand Bay.

A helicopter from RNAS Culdrose winched them to safety at about 22:00 BST on Thursday. Plymouth lifeboat and coastguard team helped with the rescue.

The man and woman, both in their 20s, were shaken but unhurt, coastguards said.
