East Midlands Airport passengers warned of event delays

Passengers travelling to East Midlands Airport have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys due to a major motorcycling event.

The British Superbike Championship is taking place at Donington Park on Saturday and Sunday.

An airport spokesperson said heavy traffic was expected on local roads.

There will be no right turn for traffic from Castle Donington at the junction of the A453 and Castle Donington Road on both days.

A one-way system will also be in place on part of Melbourne Lane from 14:30 to 19:30 BST on Sunday to cope with heavy traffic leaving the event.
