People bailed after scrapyard police raid
More than 30 people have been bailed pending further inquiries as part of a police operation targeting metal thefts across north-east England.
Northumbria Police arrested 21 people, Durham Police arrested 13 people and Cleveland Police arrested three people, all on suspicion of money-laundering.
Scrapyards in Newcastle, Sunderland and Darlington were among those searched on Wednesday.
More than £260,000 was seized in the operation.
The raids followed a pledge by the forces to work more closely to stem rising incidents of metal thefts from places such as railway lines and power stations.
