Doncaster A1(M) crash leaves woman seriously ill

A 20-year-old Cambridgeshire woman has suffered life-threatening injuries in a motorway crash in South Yorkshire.

The accident happened at about 16:48 GMT on Saturday when the car the woman was driving, a black Ford Ka, appeared to spin out of control on the A1(M) near Tickhill, Doncaster.

The car hit the nearside crash barrier and rolled along a grass bank before stopping in the centre of the road.

The woman was taken to St James's Hospital in Leeds for treatment.

She was suffering from life-threatening internal hip and rib injuries, police said.

Anyone who saw the accident has been asked to contact South Yorkshire Police.
