Man held after Haslemere pedestrian injured
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene after an accident in which a pedestrian was critically injured.
The crash, in Lower Street, Haslemere, at 20:05 BST on Monday, involved a 68-year-old local male pedestrian.
He was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with extensive leg and head injuries.
Surrey Police said the vehicle involved, a silver grey estate car, was left with a smashed windscreen.
The arrested man is in custody at Guildford police station.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
