A new country park is planned for part of a former landfill site next to the Countess of Cheshire Hospital.

The 29 hectare (72 acres) park would be located within the North Cheshire Green Belt.

The site, which also borders the Shropshire Union Canal, is made up of a disused landfill area, a wet meadow habitat and land owned by NHS trusts.

Plans for the Countess Country Park will be considered by Cheshire West and Chester councillors on 12 April.

The park would include a visitor car park and a picnic and play area.

A number of foot and cycle paths would also be created.
